3. Skansie Brothers Park and Netshed
Skansie Brothers Park is a massive 59-acre park located on the waterfront, one of many places to explore in the downtown area. The property ties back to the early history of the town and was donated by four Croatian fisherman brothers, In 2002, this land became Skansie Brothers Park and since then, it's been an integral community space because of its glorious maritime and outdoor scenery. Â
Skansie Brothers Park is more than just a park, it’s also an historical exhibit and community gathering place.. The park and its grounds are home to pieces from the past like Historic Skansie Brothers House and their Netshed; plus it's also host to some of Gig Harbor's most celebrated events. 5. Sunrise Beach
There are many gorgeous scenic places in Washington state but one of the best kept secrets is Gig Harbor with a 6-acre beachfront, 82 acres of scenic land, and 2 miles of trails that are perfect for hiking, biking, or any other outdoor activity. It's also an ideal place to access some popular scuba diving spots in the state as well as incredible views of Vashon Island, Mount Rainier, and Puget Sound.

6. Finholm View Climb
For spectacular views of the harbor, head on over to the Finholm Historic District and take in the panoramic views of Mt. Rainier at the top of Finhold View Climb. Some exercise is required; there are 100 stairs to the top so make sure you’re wearing some tennis shoes. Parking is available along Franklin Avenue if you are driving through the area. If all that climbing makes you hungry, head over to the Devoted Kiss cafe where you can take advantage of their free wi-fi, their stunning views, and a killer spicy chicken wrap.

7. McCormick Forest
McCormick Forest is an amazing natural green wonderland full of old-growth trees, wildlife, and four miles of trails to explore for everyone and their four-legged best friends. The McCormick Creek trail passes through the canyon for a great view of the creek. Some trails are open only to horseback riders while others can be enjoyed by foot or bike as well. This gorgeous forest park also has easy parking nearby and convenient picnic areas situated in one's own private nature experience. There is also a fully fenced, off leash dog park. Your dog can get exercise and you can take in the gorgeous views of the surrounding forest.

8. Take a Guided Tour in Gig Harbor
If you're looking for a beach town without having to drive all the way to the ocean, Gig Harbor has you covered if you’re looking for aquatic adventures like guided tours and boat trips. For those who want to set sail from Gig Harbor, there are several places that offer such maritime activities.Â

10. Sehmel Homestead Park
Northwest of downtown Gig Harbor sits Sehmel Homestead Park which encompasses a whopping 98 acres. Sehmel Homestead Park started out as a private family homestead, and after a generous land donation in 2002, became a public space where you can find everything from organized sports to wild nature.
The hiking trails at Sehmel Homestead Park are approximately four miles long, and visitors can experience a variety of landscapes including meadows, wetlands, forest stands and pond habitats. Keep that camera ready for some gorgeous photo spots.

12. Kopachuck State Park
Gig Harbor has several amazing parks and outdoor spaces to take advantage of and Kopachuck State Park is no exception. Kopachuck is a popular beach on the western side of Henderson Bay that spans over 280 acres. It’s a great blend of both the beach and forest. There are over two miles of family friendly trails with gorgeous ferns and greenery. The beach portion of Kopachuck is very popular and can get a bit crowded, especially during low tide. Â
The park is a day-use only and very popular place to visit. Over 50 tables are available for guests with various sizes for picnics, making it a picture perfect destination. There is a fee to use the park so keep that in mind before you go.

14. Cushman Trail
If you’re looking for an enjoyable day of biking or trail walking, Cushman Trail should be one of your top destinations. The 6.2-mile paved path stretches north and south throughout Gig Harbor in Washington state.Â
The trail is maintained and well kept. There are plenty of benches, picnic tables, and yes, even multiple public restrooms. The trail cuts northwest from the west side of town, but east of State Route 16. You’ll find several access points along this route that give access to parking spots as well as many secluded areas for camping and spending or relaxing in nature.
There are several areas of the trail route that will include some hills that go up to 10% grades. There will also be a few intersections of city streets so be careful of vehicles and traffic in those areas. Bring a good pair of walking shoes and a water bottle for those hills.

15. Tides Tavern
The Tides Tavern is more than just a restaurant, it’s an institution.Tides Tavern has won numerous awards in several categories for multiple years running. Established in 1973, it swiftly became THE place for local diners to enjoy great food while taking in the spectacular scenic views of Puget Sound and the beautiful sunsets on the historical harbor.
They have a full menu but special mention to their seafood. Their fish and chips are absolutely amazing. They use their own special beer batter and the fish is fresh as can be. We recommend the halibut but that’s just personal preference. Their clam chowder has won awards and you’ll instantly be transported to the beach with one taste. They’ve got a great bar that specializes in Pacific Northwest craft beer so you’ll be sure to find a new favorite. Ask about Stella the Goose! She’s a Canadian goose that’s been using Tides Tavern as a nesting spot for years. Tides Tavern is a 21+ year old restaurant so if you have kids, plan ahead.

16. Crescent Creek Park
If you’re looking for a great place for the whole family to enjoy for hours without complaint, head over to Crescent Creek Park. Known as “The Park” to locals, Crescent Creek is a unique, natural space that has a touch of the past. It was originally a playground for the old Crescent Valley School which opened in 1915.

This Crescent Creek Park is one of the most popular parks in the area, so if you’re looking for peace and quiet, you might want to look elsewhere.The park is known for picnics and lounging as it features a covered shelter with a kitchen.There are sports courts like tennis, basketball, and a baseball field. It also features a playground and splash pad that can be lots of fun in the summertime, especially with kids.Â
The playground is quite unique in that it’s maritime-themed and is shaped into a fishing boat. It’s also inclusive for those that are typically-abled and disabled.If you’ve got kids under 12, they’re going to have a blast out on the sea.

17. Cutts Island State Park
Cutts Island is a bit off the road, literally. The only way to get to Cutts Island is by boat or kayak through Kopachuck State Park but it’s worth the paddling. It’s a great place to enjoy beachcombing, scuba diving, and boating. There are plenty of seals on the island which should be left alone as it’s federal law. Also, there is no potable or running water so all garbage, human and otherwise, need to be packed out with you.
18. McCormick Forest Park
The main entrance to this forested public space is off Bujacich Road, near Sehmel Homestead Park. The area includes an old-growth world of giant trees that welcomes visitors when they reach it.
The McCormick Forest Park is home to Douglas Firs, a type of evergreen trees with ages that vary from 100 years old and up. These magnificent trees can be seen when visiting the park because they stand out among their peers. Other impressive features of McCormick are its views of McCrack Creek, which runs through the forest in various locations throughout the park.
The McCormick Forest Park has a wide-spread system of trails. A map is ideal for exploring, as many side trails branch out from the central trail. Horse riding and leashed pets are also welcome on these paths.

19. Anthony's Homeport Gig Harbor
If you’re out and about in Downtown Gig Harbor and looking for a great place to eat, Anthony’s Homeport is a great place to sit back, enjoy some terrific water views and a good meal. Anthony’s has a more casual atmosphere in their downstairs dining room and upstairs is a bit more upscale. Anthony’s is well known for their exceptionally fresh, delicious seafood. 20. Donkey Creek Park
The 1.3-acre Donkey Creek Park is a natural ,open mown space near downtown that borders Donkey Creek near its mouth into Puget Sound. Salmon spawn the creek for their annual return to the tributary in October. There are lots of viewing spots for people to take in the sights of the spawning salmon.Â
The park portion of Donkey Creek is calm, inviting, peaceful, and green. The lawn is well-maintained with benches surrounding the perimeter of the park, perfect for a reading or resting break. If you’re looking for a little oasis amidst the concrete, take a nice stroll in nature. Â
It’s very close to shopping, restaurants, and other attractions. Public restrooms are located near the front entrance on Harborview Drive, which allows you to connect with a pedestrian path that connects to the Harbor History Museum, another on our list of things to do. Take a day to do both.

If you are a shopper, you can’t miss a visit to Chalet in the Woods. The store is as pretty as it sounds.
